MAYUMI YAMAGUCHI

CLASSIC TEACHER

Mayumi Yamaguchi

1st soloist of Royal Swedish Ballet.

Born in Tokyo, Japan and trained at the Heinz-Bosl Ballet Academy in Münich, Germany.

Joined Semper Oper Ballet, in Dresden Germany, in 2004.

In 2006 she joined Royal Swedish Ballet and was promoted to first soloist in 2015.

She has danced parts like:

• Alice, in Alice in wonderland by Christopher Wheeldon. (For which she was awarded the Orlando price for performance of the year.

• Kitri in Don Quixote by Rudolf Nureyev.

• 2nd pas de deux in Artifact suite by William Forsythe.

• Olga in Onegin by John Cranko.

She also danced soloist parts in ballets by Mats Ek, Mauro Bigonzetti, Christian Spuck, Natalia Makarova, Natalie Conus and Per Isberg.
